Quality Assurance – ibioceuticals

Assuring authenticity & efficacy

MASQUELIER’s® uses the most advanced quality assurance methods to ensure identity, quality, and consistency of composition.

Using advanced analytical testing, we tie all MASQUELIER’s® OPCs ingredients directly to the authentic material and body of science that allowed them to obtain pharmaceutical status in France. Continuous CPA testing has confirmed no other material on the market matches the MASQUELIER’s® OPCs ingredient profiles.

Complex Phytonutrient Authentication (CPA)

Specifically identified geographical regions are officially designated depending on the commercial classification of specific wines. When the seeds arrive at the MASQUELIER’s® manufacturing facility, the geographical origin of the seeds is specified in the documentation that accompanies the shipment, which is verified via annual auditing. Seeds of the Vitis vinifera L. are identified in 3 independent steps. First, the quality department at MASQUELIER’s® visually checks the seeds. Secondly, a sample of the seeds is sent to an independent botanist for identification. And finally, a sample of the supplied seeds is sent to an independent DNA laboratory.

This testing involves isolating intact DNA from the seeds and confirming the source material via DNA barcoding. Once the identity of the supplied seeds has been confirmed as Vitis vinifera L., the seeds are released for processing at the manufacturing site. During the extraction process, the material is accompanied by a batch file that follows the batch throughout the plant.

This batch file ensures that the original identity of the material can be traced during the extraction process. After processing, samples of the final material (dry extract – MOOPCs) are tested for organoleptic characteristics, solubilities, pv value, Bate Smith reaction, UV absorbance, specific UV absorbance and HPLC to confirm their identity. If specifications are met, the identity of the final material is checked in a final step via Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Principal Component Analysis before being released as MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs.

This complex process ensures that MASQUELIER’s® OPCs ingredients will always contain the same unique composition that has been extensively tested for health benefits.

Highly bioavailable

In order to register MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs & French Maritime Pine Bark Extract as medicines in France, extensive biological, toxicological, and analytical research was conducted. They were radioactively labelled to test the extent of absorption of MASQUELIER’s OPCs ingredients, and their distribution, in the body. Within ten minutes, the blood was already highly radioactive, with maximum levels reached in 45 minutes. In the first hour, the radioactivity appeared in several body tissues, particularly blood vessels and connective tissues, suggesting that MASQUELIER’s® OPCs ingredients were highly bioactive in these tissues. After seven hours, the level was at a little more than one-third of the maximum, indicating that high levels may persist over a prolonged period in the body.

In preliminary tests performed in humans, upon ingestion of 150mgs of MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs or French Maritime Pine Bark Extract, they could be detected in the saliva within 1 hour, further showing that MASQUELIER’s® OPCs ingredients are also rapidly absorbed and bioavailable in humans.

These studies established that MASQUELIER’s® OPCs ingredients are rapidly absorbed, entering the blood-stream immediately from the intestinal mucosa and accumulating rapidly in various tissues in the body.

Dosage

The broad range health benefits of MASQUELIER’s® OPCs ingredients have been demonstrated in clinical studies at daily intakes that range between 50–300mgs per day, depending upon individual needs. Because of their affinity with proteins, they are best taken on an empty stomach with plenty of water or fruit juice, but not with milk or other protein-containing drinks.

Safety

Scientists and clinicians have reported that MASQUELIER’s® Original OPCs & French Maritime Pine Bark Extract are “very safe” and are “excellently tolerated”, with no undue side effects being observed in the various scientific human intervention and animal studies performed during the last 70 years.
